MORE TIME FOR BUSINESSES TO APPLY TO FLOOD FUND

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has announced that businesses employing up to 250 staff and affected by the recent floods now have until 30th September 2007 to apply for a grant of up to £2,500 for immediate recovery needs.

Applications to the £500,000 Flood Recovery Fund were due by 31st July, but emda has decided to extend this deadline to enable more businesses – particularly those in the agricultural sector – to benefit.

Most of the applications to the flood fund have so far covered loss of earnings and trade, damaged equipment, property damage and uninsured stock.

Businesses should contact the regional Business Link service on 0845 058 6644 to register and receive more details of the Flood Recovery Fund. Affected businesses will be allocated an advisor who will assess their needs and support them through the application process.

Applications should be made by the end of September – but emda will continue to assess the situation. The fund will not cover losses which are insured or insurable.
